What Should You Add to Your Smoothies?
Eating healthy is one of the best gifts that you can give yourself! Nothing is more important than your health and few things will impact your diet more than what you eat. A great and easy way to improve your diet is by adding smoothies! Here are some things you may want to consider adding to your smoothies.
Fruit
The most obvious choice for smoothies is fruit. Most any type of fruit will do! Although most of us have been trained to be scared of the sugar in fruit, don’t be. Research shows that people who consume fruit on a regular basis are much less likely to suffer from chronic disease such as cancer than those who don’t.
Vegetables
While this may seem like an odd choice, don’t be afraid to try a green smoothie recipe. Not only are they delicious, they are one of the best things that you can consume! You will need a good blender to make green smoothies, but this doesn’t have to cost a fortune. I like ninja blendersas a moderately priced alternative to some of the higher end blenders (like Vitamix) which are indeed wonderful but can cost three times the price of the Ninja.
Nutritional Supplements
There is no doubt that smoothies are a great way to get nutritional supplements. You can add protein powder, brewer’s yeast or bee pollen.
Nuts, Seeds and Grains
You can improve the nutritional content of just about any smoothie by adding nuts, grains or seeds. I especially like adding flax seeds or chia seeds as a way to get more essential fatty acids into my diet. Nut butters really take the taste of your smoothie over the top, and are also a great way to turn your smoothie into a meal. Try almond butter, cashew butter or peanut butter! As for grains, oatmeal and wheat germ are both great additions.

Simple Desserts Are a Great Party Food
I noticed something at our Christmas party last year. We had lots of great appetizers for everyone to enjoy but we also had some nice cakes and pies for everyone but no one ate them.
We realized that most people didn’t want a large dessert to eat since they had been eating all kinds of food all day long. So this year we are going to prepare Simple Dessert Recipes that everyone can nibble on.
This way no one feels guilty about eating something sweet. Another great thing about this idea is that you get to sample more than one dessert. The portions are small enough to allow you to eat and sample everything. This will probably be the way we serve dessert from now on. Some simple dessert recipes are all anyone really needs after eating all kinds of delicious party food.
I think I will start off with some decorative Christmas Cookies and some chocolate truffles. That will be a big hit at our party.
